For my birthday I got to watch 1982 movie The Dark Crystal for the first time in my life! I was blown away by the amazing craftsmanship of Jim Henson’s puppeteers, who brought the characters to life. To me, those puppets are so much more alive than any CG characters could ever be.

I was so touched by this intense and beautiful story, that is highly spiritual and seems even more valuable a message in our times today. Of course I immediately fell in love with the Mystics, and I had to make a painting of Master, who touched my heart deeply.

Remember: “The story runs deeper than you know, and you are part of it.”

Der dunkle Kristall

Zu meinem Geburtstag habe ich endlich den Film Der dunkle Kristall aus dem Jahr 1982 gesehen. Natürlich war ich von den Marionetten aus Jim Henson’s Puppenstudio hellauf begeistert. Diese Figuren sind so unglaublich lebendig und wirken viel natürlicher und echter als die modernen Computer-Animationen.

Ich war von der sehr spirituellen Geschichte tief berührt und finde es großartig, dass solche wertvollen Themen für Kinder liebevoll und aufwendig in Märchen verpackt werden – die Botschaft des Films ist heute wichtiger denn je zuvor. Natürlich habe ich mich in die Mystics verliebt und musste ein Bild ihres Meisters malen.
